Abstract

This article analyzes the educational activities the Russians made in their colonies in America. First, the hunters had two main objectives in the informal education which they gave to the Natives: they wanted translators who made their tasks easier and they introduced the Natives in Christianity. In a second moment Russian colonizers developed educational projects that tried to integrate Natives in the colonial society in Russian America.
