The image of Bernardo Reyes. A propagandistic and historical invention

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to criticize the historical image of Bernardo Reyes as a military man, not as a governor nor as politician. In order to accomplish this, we intend to make a revision of the historical work on this general, as well as of his use of propaganda. Furthermore, we aim to analyze his role in the process of modernization an institutional building of the Mexican National Army. We also compare his performance with that of other military actors, who may be less known, but more relevant, due to the depth and length of their intervention.
